My Lame Art Wall Progress

I haven’t made art a priority the way I’ve been wanting to, despite all my lofty ambitions, but I have been collecting quotes and pictures that I want to get up on the wall somehow. Here are some of my faves:

There are many more I’ve been sticking into a folder for printing, but as of yet I haven’t gotten around to it, and I really have no excuse. It is easier than ever to print photos and I still haven’t done it. What would I do if I had to go develop 35mm film? My poor children would NEVER see themselves. At least these are fun to look at – even if it’s just on a computer screen. Hopefully this will motivate me to get them up on the wall and in REAL LIFE.

  1. I have the same problems getting photos printed. I like to have them printed at Snapfish/Shutterfly and I like to order a lot to make the shipping worth it. I think that’s my problem. Maybe I should keep a to-print folder running so that when a deal on photos comes up, I can just order them. I love how the photos you picked are of the children with different people, like their grandparents(?). The photos show such love and are so welcoming. You will showcase the photos with quotes? Cool. That’s certainly adding another level of complexity!

    1. Glad to hear I’m not the only one. Good idea on watching out for deals. One of my problems is that some of the frames I have (that I picked up from garage sales) are not standard sizes so I have to format the picture to fit in the frame before I print and I haven’t measured the frames yet. I just have to sit down and do it. One photo is with my mom’s dad, and the other is with my Dad’s mom. I know my kids will cherish pictures with their great grandparents when they get older 🙂 I plan on designing some prints for quotes I like…sometime haha!

  2. I’m with you on that! I have about a million pictures on my computer yet only about 20 printed photos around the house. I had planned a photo/art wall in our living room (we have a huge empty wall) but so far there are only four frames on it. I think, for me, it would be better to just go out and get a bunch of frames first. Then at least it’ll motivate me to fill them with photos and art – because what’s weirder than having a stock picture of strangers hanging on your wall, right? Lol.

    1. OMG I have a free-standing frame with stock photos in it sitting on a bookshelf! I’ve had it for 4 years now I think…terrible! My brother was looking at it and he’s like “Who’s this?” before he realized they were stock photos. I did go to garage sales and grab some frames. I cleaned them off and they’re all ready to go. They’ve been sitting around for the past couple months waiting for me to fill them. That was the hardest part! Everything else should be easy right? But it’s taking me the LONGEST to get prints in there. Oh well.

  3. It’s nice to find that there are so many more people in the world who spend their time procrastinating. I came across some old rolls of film not so long ago, I just put them back thinking that, if they haven’t been missed in 10 years, they can wait another ten!I’m sure something will hit us some day and we “get around to it”.
However I have a lot of stuff framed from the days of developing my own black and white film, and others waiting for their turn in the limelight!
I’ll get around to the digital stuff some time.
