Well there is one fruit around these parts that is actually harvested in the Fall - persimmons! Let me know if you think of any others. Known as "kaki" in Japanese, this mildly sweet fruit was the main livelihood of my husband's great-grandparents, who were the children of Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. They had a several-acre kaki farm up in Kula, and their son continues to maintain the farm. This past Sunday my grams-in-law headed up there to help with the harvest and returned with some gorgeous fruit to share. And waddaya know? It's a beautiful burnt ORANGE; perfect for this week's Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge. Ah I just love when things fall into place.
