There are no words to express how much I looooooove going up country. Kula is perfection and the Aliʻi Kula Lavender Farm is the embodiment of everything I love about Kula - beautiful views, rolling hills, cool air, gorgeous greenery, and peaceful country tranquility. When you spend your days in HOT Kahului, escaping to a higher elevation is a welcome retreat. I heard about the Sustainable Aloha Fest on Twitter and decided it would be a fun thing to go to on a Saturday. We even managed to get grandma (who was born and raised in Kula) out of the house for a joy ride up the mountain and jaunt through the lavender fields.
We enjoyed checking out the booths featuring local businesses and organizations, all gathered together to offer ideas, products and services the promote sustainable living. Noweo even got a pinwheel and promptly proceeded to eat it.
We played in the grass and walked around the grounds and got LOTS of inspiration for my future garden. So many interesting plants and tranquil places to sit and enjoy the outdoors.
I wish we could've stayed for the tweet up that happened later on, but the grassy hills were taking a toll on grandma's 87 year old knees, so we decided to head back down the mountain for some lunch and Transformers (which was ok but the 3D wasn't worth it.)
I left feeling like I hadn't spent enough time there. AKL is DEFINITELY on my list of places to visit again.
